I have to agree in part with JS. There's a limit to the "let's all have fun" philosophy Carroll preaches. And the limit is reached when his players need a swift kick in the ass. He needs to start cracking the whip, though I'm not sure he's got it in him. JS is right about one thing, these guys aren't Ivy League scholars by and large, and they require more structure than Carroll traditionally provides. Surely coach can smell it when the team is going through the motions, underestimating the opposition. Or can he? If one good thing came out of the game, we've surely identified his successor.

To me one of this team's biggest problems is the attitude of several of its players. Two plays before the game winning FG, you had a D lineman who can only be described as blatantly stupid, incur a personal foul penalty after the 1st down catch by a Washington receiver. Absolute vapid stupidity. It's been going on for years under Carroll. On the very next play, following a tackle, a USC defender acted as if he made the tackle to win the BCS championship game!! He pranced and danced, and thumped his chest, it was an unreal sight. KNOWING all the while that on the very next play that Washington would kick the game winning FG in all liklihood. These players are mental midgets, by and large. They are out of control and Carroll should pull the scholarship of the dancing celebrant, who embarrassed himself and his school. It happens over and over again, under Carroll. They are undisicplined and lacking in common sense. Carroll isn't getting the job done, in my opinion. I don't even care about the wins and losses, but the way these young men represent USC is many times disgraceful!!
