Blowing in the wind

A large tree on the north side of Bovard Auditorium came toppling down this afternoon, blown over by the high winds.
According to Dept. of Public Safety Capt. David Carlisle, a couple of other trees are down elsewhere on campus and one tree by Hedco Neuroscience Building and The Lot is leaning. DPS officers are monitoring the area.
USC facilities management is currently working to remove the fallen trees and is also trying to stabilize the leaning tree.
So far there have been no injuries and no structural damage has been reported, Carlisle said, but with winds as a high as 50 mph, DPS is urging students to exercise caution.
The high winds have also resulted in power outages around campus, including in the area of 24th and Hoover streets.
