USC, UCLA to headline Dodgertown Classic

The crosstown UCLA-USC rivalry always packs any stadium where the Bruins and Trojans meet.

Whether it is football, basketball or even water polo, the schools know how to bring their fans to their sporting events.

This year, however, the two schools will have a new venue to try and fill up, even if its only for one day.

On February 28, Dodger Stadium will hold a one-day event called the “Dodgertown Classic,” which will feature the USC and UCLA baseball teams squaring off at the historic MLB stadium.

The Dodgers Dream Foundation, which provides “educational, athletic and recreational opportunities for the youth of the Greater Los Angeles community,” created the event as a fundraiser for the baseball team’s affiliate charity.

Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt will also  send teams from out of state to participate in the event, and the two schools will play before the marquee matchup between UCLA and USC.

All the games will count towards the four teams’ regular season records.

Tickets can be purchased online, at either school’s campus box offices for $5, or at Dodger Stadium the day of the event for $10.

Fans will also be presented with the option of buying reduced-price tickets for the Dodgers’ UCLA- or USC-themed nights, where the first 20,000 fans in attendance will receive Dodger hats with either the UCLA or USC colors.

USC night is April 29, while UCLA night is April 30.
