Former USC shooting guard Marcus Johnson joins Croatian club team

Cibona Zagreb, a Croatian club team part of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Basketball league, bolstered the backcourt by adding Marcus Johnson to the team for a one-year deal. Johnson, a Los Angeles native who transferred to USC from UConn in the spring of 2008, played shooting guard for the Trojans last year. He averaged 9.6 points and 4.6 rebounds, while also averaging 1.5 steals a game for the Trojans, making his mark as a defensive force.

Cibona is entering a new era for the club, under a new coach Zdravko Radulović, and the team — which is coming off back-to-back Croatian National League titles — is looking to win its first Euroleague championship since 1986. The addition of Johnson should bring physicality and solid wing play to the team.

Johnson was also a top-100 national recruit coming out of high school, and had a storied career at Westchester High School in Los Angeles, as a two-time All-State and All-City selection.
