James Bond will return

A few months ago, it looked as if a lot of big name movies were in trouble. MGM Studios had suffered a serious financial crisis, forcing it to declare bankruptcy. This effectively killed two of the studio’s biggest movies: The Hobbit and the 23rd James Bond film.

Yet, something seems to have changed at MGM. In less than a month, both films have been restarted, with pre-production and release dates set. The Hobbit went from wallowing on the brink of development hell to fully cast in under two weeks, with Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson returning to to Middle-Earth.

Now James Bond is back. With the 23rd film now scheduled for a November 2012 release, it looks like production is going to go on the fast track. Writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade had been working on a script before things fell apart.

No director is attached, but Daniel Craig is set to return.

Welcome back, 007.
