Tomb Raider is making a comeback

GK Films has announced that it will reboot the Tomb Raider film franchise and aim to release the first installment in 2013.

Based on the successful video game franchise of the same name, the fairly succesful 2001 and 2003 film versions starred a supple Angelina Jolie and together grossed a total of $432 million at the box office.

The game will also benefit from its own reboot; Crystal Dynamics announced in December that they it is developing a prequel game of the original 1996 game, which follows the adventures of Lara Croft, a sexy Indiana Jones-type character that, well, raided tombs.

No announcements have been made on any casting decisions, but the film will call Graham King and Tim Headington its producers. Headington has produced titles such as Rango,The Tourist and The Young Victoria, while King worked as producer for The Town, The Departed and Traffic.
