The following incidents were reported in the USC Dept. of Public Safety incident summary between Tuesday, March 27, and Wednesday, March 28.

Crimes against property

At 2:06 a.m. on March 28, DPS officers on routine patrol discovered a damaged university electric cart that had been abandoned inside Parking Structure D. The officers were unable to determine where the cart belonged at the time of the report.

At 4:05 p.m. on March 27, Loss Prevention officers observed a suspect pick up several boxes of toothpaste and place them in a plastic bag he was carrying. The officers detained the suspect when he exited Superior Grocers without paying for the merchandise and DPS officers were requested. The DPS officers arrested the suspect at the request of the Loss Prevention officers then he was transported to 77th station for booking.

At 1:08 p.m. on March 27, DPS officers responded to a report of a student entering the John Stauffer Pharmaceutical Science Center in violation of a university-issued “stay away” letter. The officers detained the student, reminded him of the sanctions against him and released him.

At 11:41 a.m. on March 27, a suspect used unknown means to gain entry to a secured locker at the Eileen and Kenneth T. Norris Dental Science Center, and removed a purse, miscellaneous clothing, dental tools and an MP3 player.

At 11:39 a.m. on March 27, a student on Hoover Street reported that she discovered her wallet missing and subsequently learned that a suspect had used one of her credit cards to make several unauthorized purchases.

Miscellaneous incidents

At 4:17 p.m. on March 27, DPS officers responded to a report of a suspect aggressively panhandling at the University Village Food Court and refusing to leave after being asked to do so. The officers detained the suspect and a check of his name revealed that he had been advised against trespassing on university property numerous times in the past. The officers arrested the suspect and transported him to 77th station for booking.
