Having attracted more than 150,000 people each year, the Festival of Books is an annual, free, public celebration of the written word, hosted by USC. This is the third year the book fair will be held at USC. Until 2010, it had been hosted in Westwood, at the UCLA campus. Readings, features and seminars will include hundreds of authors and exhibitors.

In the spirit of the love of books, the university’s third annual online book drive was launched Wednesday, coinciding with National Literacy Day. The drive’s headquarters is located at 32nd Street/USC MaST High School, a member of the USC Family of Schools. The drive got off to an auspicious start, receiving a single donation of 25,000 books from Piccolo Books.

Last year, 8,000 books were donated to shelve classroom libraries within the USC Family of Schools. Civic Engagement and USC Bookstores will be setting up a user-friendly online donation system and bookdrop stations, located at University Park Campus, Health Sciences Campus and the Los Angeles Times building.
