The following incidents were reported in the USC Department of Public Safety incident report summary between Tuesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 9. 

Crimes against property

at 8:02 p.m. on April 8, the RadioShack store manager reported that a suspect had entered RadioShack and attempted to return an iPod cable for a refund using a receipt for a different item. The manager denied the refund, and a subsequent review of video footage revealed that the suspect had stolen the cable on a previous occasion.

Miscellaneous incidents

at 11:31 a.m. on April 8, DPS members responded to the sound of an explosion outside the Physical Education building. A student directed them to a bicycle from which he had observed smoke emanating. Upon inspection, the officers determined that an overinflated tire on the bicycle had exploded.

at 12:17 p.m. on April 8, DPS officers conducting a patrol check in Parking Structure D noticed that the glass window on a firebox had been shattered and that the fire hose inside the box had been pulled out.

at 2:26 p.m. on April 8, a non-USC female reported she was being harassed through social media by a fellow student, and she felt her personal safety was in danger.

at 12:27 p.m. on April 9, a Metro bus driver flagged down patrolling DPS officers, reporting that two suspects on the bus were causing a disturbance and requested their removal. DPS escorted the two off the bus and were released after being questioned by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department deputies.
