Sexual battery suspect taken into custody

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested 21-year-old Javier David Cardosa on Tuesday in connection with a series of sexual batteries in the University Park area.

Dept. of Public Safety Deputy Chief David Carlisle said Cardosa, a South Los Angeles resident, has no affiliation with the university.

Over the past two months DPS and LAPD collaborated to investigate several incidents in which a male suspect repeatedly slapped and groped the buttocks of females in the area.

“[Cardosa] made some admissions and we are confident he’s responsible for these sexual batteries — at least 12 of them,” Carlisle said.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has filed multiple charges of sexual battery against Cardosa.
