USC Yogathon to provide a fun, stress-free afternoon

This Sunday, USC’s Yoga & Meditation Club will be hosting a Yogathon challenge in the McCarthy Quad from 3-6 p.m., a perfect opportunity to come out and have a fun, stress-free afternoon. The Yoga & Meditation Club host various events, workshops and classes throughout the year and aims to help Trojans “enhance their innate strength, flexibility, fun, freedom, confidence and energy through yoga and meditation.”

All are welcome and encouraged to attend this event — the skill level of the attendees does not matter. Come prepared for a challenge with the 108 rounds of sun-salutations, a continuous flow of yoga poses that improve one’s flexibility and strength. One hundred and eight is a significant number within yoga traditions with various spiritual connotations.

This is the second time that the Yoga & Meditation Club will be hosting this event and it is inspired from traditional yoga marathons. You can look forward to tunes by KXSC, who will be sending a DJ to provide music. One of the club’s sponsors, REED’s Inc., will be providing free healthy beverages, such as ginger brew and root beer, for the participants to enjoy. Yoga teachers for this event include Kasia Fraser from Art of Living Studio and Makiah Epstien. Mats will be available to rent for $2 to those who do not own one.

This event is free for USC students. Non-USC students pay a fee of $20, which will be going towards a scholarship fund for Yoga & Leadership programs at USC. “The funds raised will be used for future events of the club, including hikes and meditation retreats, which are offered with full scholarship for USC students.”
