Man killed in fatal Expo Line train accident

A pedestrian was fatally injured by an Expo Line train Monday morning, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The accident caused major Metro delays in Exposition Park.

According to Erik Scott, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, the accident was reported at 11:01 a.m. on 2031 West Exposition Blvd. in the South Los Angeles area, resulting in one death.

No other injuries were reported.

The Metro Rider Alerts Twitter page reported that there was no train service between Expo/Crenshaw and Expo/Western following the accident, prompting Metro to request bus shuttles.

In a subsequent tweet, Metro warned of “major delays” in that same area.

Metro spokesman Paul Gonzales told the Los Angeles Times that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating the death as a potential suicide.
