Daily Trojan’s Daily Poet: Falling

This week’s poems are about falling for someone and the intense feelings that are associated with a growing relationship. More importantly, they are about the connection between two people who care for each other. These feelings are not only sexual, but also spiritual and emotional. When you are falling in love with someone, there comes a point where that person becomes an extension of you. They know more about you than anyone else, and vice versa. You care about that person and will do anything to make him or her smile. Knowing that you have that person in your life is intoxicating and can sometimes become distracting. However, the intoxication and dizziness never controls your life. Instead you ease your way into familiarity and those feelings become normal and controllable. You crave to know so much about him or her, and eventually, you do. Soon the person’s presence always seems to linger throughout the day. The relationship is intoxicating, but it only drives you to sustain it because that person illuminates your future. He or she becomes the reason why you work hard in your everyday life and becomes what you look forward to every morning.
