Masked men rob store near USC, officers report

Three men allegedly robbed the Smart and Final grocery store on Vermont Avenue on Monday night after tying up the store’s employees, KTLA reported.

Sergeant V. Salguero of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Station said that the men were wearing “scary Halloween” masks and have yet to be identified, according to the City News Service.

At least one of the men was armed. However, no shots were fired.

While there were witnesses present during the robbery, no one was injured.

KTLA reported that the robbers fled with approximately $3,000 in cash.

Though the men fled on foot, the police believe that they might have had a getaway vehicle nearby, Salguero said.

Police have stated that the Smart and Final is fully operational and that students have no need to fear or avoid the area.
