USC football coach Lane Kiffin’s Rising Stars Camp began Tuesday to benefit advanced football players in 10th to 12th grades with the necessary skills to compete at the collegiate level. The camp, which starts at 8 a.m., included drills and team play.

The USC Silks of the Trojan Marching Band teach students the routine for “Tusk” in front of Heritage Hall on Tuesday. Students without colorguard experience had the opportunity to learn moves such as dropspins, backscratchers, happy feet and slams.

Max Hoiland, a member of  the Student Coalition Against Labor Exploitation and a senior majoring in cinematic arts-critical studies, leads a group of students near the intersection of Hoover Street and Jefferson Boulevard on Thursday. The students were protesting against USC because some USC apparel is made in sweat shops.

The Thorton Percussion Ensemble, directed by Professor Joseph Pereira, also played music by Elliot Carter.
