By Kenny Legan · Daily Trojan

Yesterday at 11:47 pm

The senior had been waiting his whole life for this moment.

Cardinal will be no picnic for USC

Usually schools schedule a cupcake during Homecoming.

Usually they make sure the cupcake is light (healthy is all the rage these days), loaded with creamy frosting and decorated with some celebratory sprinkles.

Usually, the cupcake is devoured before the main course is served and by the time dessert rolls around, the alumni are left to feast on [...]

The Pac-10 needs to become the Pac-12

By Kenny Legan · Daily Trojan

No USC fan wants to relive last weekend’s embarrassment in Eugene.

The Trojans were outworked, outhustled and outplayed. USC needs a small-scale game like this Saturday’s in Tempe, Ariz. to regain its skills, swagger and dominant attitude.

If the Trojans recover their form, there’s no doubt they would love a rematch with Oregon at the end of [...]

By Kenny Legan · Daily Trojan

October 29, 2009 (4 weeks ago) at 9:40 pm

Here’s a scary scenario for USC fans:

It’s Halloween night and the USC football team is up in Eugene, Ore., trick-or-treating. But instead of terrorizing homeowners with intimidation and trepidation, the Trojans fall victim to the spell of the Ducks and leave empty-handed.

This isn’t your far-fetched Halloween horror movie. This is real.

USC arguably runs into its [...]

At first glance, you can tell there’s something special — something different — about Louis Zamperini.

He wears a cardinal USC hat and is 92 years old, but he’ll forgive you for thinking he’s 60. Most men his age are confined to their homes, but you can tell that Zamperini doesn’t live that life. In fact, [...]

Other sports trump football on campus

We know all the statistics and accolades.

They are printed on cardinal T-shirts sold in the bookstore: seven consecutive 11-win seasons, BCS Bowls and Pac-10 Championships — not to mention the two national championships won in the middle of this decade.

These stats seem to speak for themselves and declare USC football the best sport on campus.

Wait, [...]

LaGarrette Blount.

Many of you know him as the man who, last weekend, threw the best punch on a blue field in history.
