Student robbed on campus

LAPD is currently investigating the potential armed robbery of a student on campus Thursday night.

The victim, a female, was walking alone down McClintock Ave. by Cromwell Field at 11:30 p.m. Thursday when she was approached by a robber who placed what the victim described as a “hard metal object” against her neck. DPS Captain David Carlisle said the student complied and handed over her purse. According to the DPS report, the robber fled in a blue sedan.

Authorities only know the robber was wearing a dark, long-sleeve shirt. There is no description of the driver of the sedan.

“A robbery on campus is a very rare occurrence,” Carlisle said. “Having this crime occur disturbs us and we’re taking the precautions we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

After the incident, DPS immediately redeployed some of their off campuses resources on campus.

LAPD’s investigation of the incident is still ongoing. Carlisle said LAPD is following a lead but DPS has no further information at this time.
