USC women’s soccer team headed to the postseason

The USC women’s soccer team received its fifth straight bid into the postseason Monday, when the field for the 2009 NCAA tournament was announced.

The Women of Troy (12-6-2) will take on Oklahoma State (15-7-0) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

USC defeated Oklahoma State 1-0 in Stillwater, Okla. on Sept. 18, but the Cowgirls enter Friday’s game on an eight-game winning streak.

If the Women of Troy defeat the Cowgirls, they will advance to play the winner of Santa Clara (13-6-1) vs. Michigan State (11-4-4) on Sunday.

USC also defeated Santa Clara, the highest seeded team of the four, earlier this season. USC beat the Broncos 2-0 at Buck Shaw Stadium on Sept. 27.
