You go, Los Angeles

Los Angeles recently received another nod to its metropolitan persona.

The publication Foreign Policy recently gave Los Angeles the No. 7 spot on its list of the most global cities around the world. To define a global city, the magazine looked at the effects of the cities on the world around them, whether that be through cultural trends or new inventions.

Only a few of the cities on the list were American, and Los Angeles was recognized mostly for Hollywood’s major economic influence on other cities and countries. The magazine calculates that Hollywood grossed a staggering $29.9 billion last year in box-office revenue alone — which, the magazine points out, is about equal to Kenya’s entire GDP.

New York and London took the top two places, respectively.
