Student bicyclist collides with shuttle bus on campus


A male student bicyclist collided with a university shuttle bus on Wednesday morning, according to Department of Public Safety Capt. David Carlisle.

The collision occurred at about 9 a.m. on the corner of Downey Way and McClintock Avenue. The bicyclist was struck by the right side of the bus as he attempted to cross Downey Way, Carlisle said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and treated the student, who was then transported to California Hospital. His condition is not known.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the collision.

    I really hope the student is all right.
    This really shows the importance of caution over speed, for both bicyclists and shuttle drivers – both of whom are often far too reckless.
