Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer

If you’re feeling in the mood to watch a documentary, head over to the Ray Stark Family Theatre at 6 p.m. Friday for Outside the Box [Office]’s screening of Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer. With just a click of your mouse you can get your ticket for free online and watch the true story of Spitzer and the scandal that is now associated with his name. The film officially opens the same day, but you can brag you saw it for free.

If you’ve missed out on the craze that the dystopian, science-fiction flick District 9 caused, now you can see what all the hulabaloo is about. Grab your ticket online and head over to the Ray Stark Family Theatre on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. for a free screening. The film is set in South Africa and explores the imprisonment of extraterrestrial creatures and their conflicts with humans. The screening is presented on behalf of the Levan Institute for Humanities and Ethics and provides some science fiction, action and thought-provoking issues.

Baker Boys: Inside the Surge

Interested in war documentaries? Baker Boys: Inside the Surge is for you. The film revolves around the story of soldiers in Baker Company and their experiences while on tour in Iraq. Hosted by the USC School of Social Work’s Center on Innovation and Research for Veterans and Military Families, the screening will take place on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Leonard Davis Auditorium of the Andrus Gerontology Center. Tickets are free and no reservation is required.

Eyes on the Middle East

Visions and Voices presents a two-day film festival focusing on works concerning Israel, Palestine and the United States. The festival will begin on Nov. 20 at the Eileen Norris Cinema Theatre.

Featured films on Saturday include Lemon Tree, directed by Eran Riklis, and Bridge Over the Wadi, directed by Barak Heymann.

Sunday will feature films such as Time of Favor, directed by Joseph Cedar, and Oscar-nominated Paradise Now, directed by Hany Abu-Assad. Both evenings will also feature panel discussions after the final screenings.
