National Signing Day: Troy Niklas settles on Notre Dame

The Los Angeles Time’s Lineman of the Year Troy Niklas will sign with Notre Dame over USC Wednesday. The 6-foot-5, 265 lbs Anaheim native played for Servite High School as an offensive tackle and tight end, while putting some time in on the defensive line as well.

Scout.com ranks the four-star prospect as the No. 8 offensive tackle in the 2011 recruiting class. As one of the premier Southern Californian lineman, he announced in January that he was deciding between Notre Dame and USC.

While Niklas hoped to attend Stanford initially, his academics prevented him from being admitted by the Cardinal.
