Internet, e-mail down around campus

Mechanical problems at an ITS data center Tuesday morning caused disruptions to Internet, blackboard and USC e-mail access across campus.

ITS wrote a blog post addressing the issue at 10:16 a.m. which said, “We are currently experiencing network connectivity issues. Affected services include Internet, email, phone and USC websites. Some users are unable to access these services. Enterprise Information Systems’ administrative applications may also be affected. We are aware of these issues and are working to resolve them as quickly as possible.”

Those who call ITS asking for assistance will hear a recording acknowledging that there have been issues this morning.

“This is Tuesday February 8 at 9:55 a.m. We are experiencing network outages and major system failures including email and website features. We have no ETA at this time,” the recording said.

Most issues seemed to be resolved by about 1:00 p.m., though some students still reported issues getting online.

ITS Director of Communications and Marketing Kevin Durkin was not immediately available for comment.
