USC cruises to victory over Hartwick

The USC women’s water polo team dominated from start to finish, cruising to a 19-4 victory Wednesday evening 19-4 against No. 16 Hartwick. With the win, the team increased its home winning streak to 23 games.

No. 3 USC (15-3, 3-1) scored five goals in the first quarter, with five different girls scoring. The offensive outburst set the tone for the rest of the match, and by halftime, USC led 8-2.

The second half was not much different, as USC scored five more goals in the third period. Again, five different players found the back of the net, giving the Women of Troy a comfortable lead 14-3 lead.

The Hawks would score one more goal the rest of the way, while USC added six more goals in the fourth.

Offensively, senior driver Joelle Bekhazi led USC with a hat trick. More impressively, however, was the fact that 12 Women of Troy scored in the match, six of which had two goals apiece.

USC’s next match is Saturday against No. 1 Stanford. Game is scheduled for 12 p.m. at McDonald’s Swim Stadium.
