The following incidents were reported in the USC Dept. of Public Safety daily incident log from Wednesday, Jan. 25. 

Crimes against property

at 7:37 p.m., DPS officers on routine patrol saw a suspect attempting to remove a bicycle from a rack at Pacific Apartments and detained him for investigation. The officers confirmed the bike did not belong to the suspect, and he was arrested and transported to S/W station for booking.

At 1:23 p.m., Retail Unit officers at the Pertusati University Bookstore monitoring surveillance cameras saw a student pick up a backpack and place it in a backpack he was wearing. The officers detained the student when he exited the store without paying for the merchandise, and DPS officers were requested to continue the investigation. The student was arrested and transported to 77th station for booking.

Miscellaneous incidents

at 1:03 p.m., DPS officers responded to a non-USC female who sustained scratches to her forehead when she drove her vehicle over a curb at Parking Lot 6, causing the airbags to deploy. The female was examined by an LAFD RA unit, but she declined medical treatment and was released at the scene. There was unspecified damage to the vehicle.

at 10:23 a.m., DPS officers responded to a report of a student and her boyfriend involved in an altercation at 1287 37th Pl. and detained them for questioning. The student stated that her boyfriend hit her with the back of his hand during an argument, and she had a visible bruise on her cheek and a scratch on her neck, which she sustained during another physical encounter with him the previous day. The officers arrested the boyfriend and transported him to 77th station for booking.
