The following incidents were reported in the USC Dept. of Public Safety incident summary between Friday, March 23 and Monday, March 26.

Crimes against a person

At 5:30 p.m. on March 25, DPS officers responded to a report of a suspect having punched an employee inside Starbucks and detained him for investigation.  The employee said the suspect was causing a disturbance and punched him in the shoulder when he attempted to escort the suspect out of the store.  The suspect was arrested and transported to Metropolitan Detention Center for booking.

At 12:04 a.m. on March 25, DPS officers responded to a report of a suspect threatening two students at McDonald’s.  The students were hiding in a restroom when the officers arrived and they said the suspect threatened to harm them without provocation while they were waiting in line for food.  The suspect left the location while the students were hiding and could not be located during a subsequent search of the area.  The officers then escorted the students to their residence.

Crimes against property

At 8:49 p.m. on March 25, a suspect smashed the rear passenger side window of a car in Parking Structure D, and removed two wallets and money.

Miscellaneous incidents

At 2:16 a.m. on March 25, DPS officers on routine patrol near the Sigma Chi fraternity house observed two intoxicated suspects yelling profanities at students and attempting to instigate altercations with them.  The officers detained the suspects, then they were arrested and transported to the MDC for booking.

At 1:32 a.m. on March 24, the Phi Delta Theta fraternity was cited to Judicial Affairs after unknown members yelled profanities at DPS officers while passing by them on a bus.
