The following incidents were reported in the USC Dept. of Public Safety incident report summary between Friday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 19.
Crimes against a person
At 11:19 p.m. on June 17, DPS officers responded to a non-USC male who reported that his boyfriend punched, bit and scratched him during an argument inside their shared apartment at University Gateway. LAPD officers responded to take over the investigation and the boyfriend was subsequently arrested.
At 4:37 p.m. on June 17, a student reported that a suspect threw a rock at him when he ignored the subjectâ€™s request for a lighter.Â atÂ 36th Place and Vermont Ave. The suspect then took a couple of steps toward the student, as if to pursue him, and the student fled on foot to the DPS office. DPS officers subsequently searched the area, but they were unable to locate the suspect.
At 7:17 p.m. on June 15, DPS officers responded to a report of several subjects involved in an altercation during a high school graduation ceremony at the Galen Athletic Pavillion. All but two of the involved parties fled the scene before the officers arrived and the remaining subjects refused to provide any information about the incident.
At 9:18 a.m. on June 15, a staff member reported receiving multiple threatening and hostile email messages from another staff member, causing him to fear for his safety.
Crimes against property
at 3:29 p.m. on June 18, a suspect used unknown means to gain entry to an office in Stonier Hall and removed an unattended camera.
at 10:31 a.m. on June 18, a suspect painted graffiti on the windshield and seats of a university electric cart at Ferris Rehearsal Hall.
at 5:24 a.m. on June 19, DPS officers responded to a staff member who had a crown knocked out and cracked a molar when a vehicle door struck him in the jawÂ inÂ Parking Structure A. The staff member did not desire transportation for medical treatment and was released to seek it on his own.
At 7:03 p.m. on June 18, a staff member at the Keck Hospital reported overhearing a conversation between two coworkers regarding their possession of firearms and a possible threat toward unspecified persons.
At 11:42 p.m. on June 15,Â DPS officers and an LAFD unit responded to a fire alarm activation due to someone smoking marijuana inside Commons House.Â No fire was found. Facilities Management Services personnel responded to reset the alarm then the building was cleared for reentry.Â The officers were unable to identify who was smoking.
