The following incidents were reported in the USC Dept. of Public Safety incident report summary between Monday, Dec. 3, and Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Crimes against property

at 2:54 p.m. on Dec. 4, a suspect smashed a bedroom window and climbed through it to gain entry to 1041 24th Street.  The suspect then removed two video game consoles, two laptop computers, multiple video games and a camera.

at 9:04 a.m. on Dec. 3, bookstore employees monitoring surveillance cameras at the Pertusati University Bookstore observed a student enter a fitting room with three items of clothing and then exit with two of them concealed beneath his sweatshirt. They detained the student when he exited the store without paying for the merchandise, and he was taken into custody by DPS officers who responded to the scene. The student was then arrested and transported to Southwest station for booking.

Miscellaneous incidents

at 3:29 p.m. on Dec. 4, DPS officers responded to a student in the Von Kleinsmid Center who sustained injuries to her head and shoulder when a dry erase board fell off a classroom wall and struck her. The student declined transportation for medical treatment and was released to seek it on her own at the Student Health Center.

at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 4, currency was found at the Pertusati University Bookstore and turned in to DPS Lost & Found.

at 3:03 a.m. on Dec. 4, DPS officers responded to a report of two suspects prowling around the bike racks at University Gateway Apartments and detained them for investigation.  The officers found no evidence that a crime had been committed and both suspects were released after being advised against trespassing on private property.
