The dream of the ’90s is alive in … Los Angeles? IFC’s sketch comedy show Portlandia will be at LACMA this Thursday. Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will be speaking and screening a behind-the-scenes look at the show’s fourth season in LACMA’s Bing Theater.

The indie alternative to the L.A. Times Festival of Books, Downtown Bookfest focuses on local pulishers and independent writers. Join your fellow bookworms for an afternoon filled with authors, musicians and poets. Bring books to trade and borrow, or attend Writ Large Press’ pop-up bookstore. With the promise of sunny weather for the weekend, this free event is one you won’t want to miss.

RAMEN YOKOCHO FEST

Ready, set, Ramen! The second annual L.A. Ramen Yokocho Fest returns this year, and is bigger than ever. Noodle lovers from all over the city will gather to enjoy dishes from 14 restaurants. This event will be in conjunction with Japan Family Day, which will feature cultural booths, performances and a flea market.
