The Special Events Committee received an email from Yahoo! at the beginning of the summer expressing an interest in coming to USC for the On the Road tour. The purpose of the tour is to promote live performances at colleges. The tour will end Thursday with the concert at Bovard, an event exclusively for USC students.

Special Events Committee and Yahoo! set up booths for students to try out new Yahoo! and Verizon Wireless gadgets, grab giveaways and get a promo code for the concert on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Finger Fountain and Pardee Plaza. The booth will be open Thursday until in Pardee Plaza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Yahoo tour bus will be on Trousdale Parkway until 5 p.m.

After entering the promo code online, students get a voucher for one to two students to watch the concert. Twelve hundred students can attend for free. A crowd of students is expected to line up outside of Bovard before 8 p.m., as more vouchers were distributed than there will be seats available.

“It’s a really popular artist obviously. We’ve already overbooked the tickets,” said Denise Rockstroh, director of the Special Events Committee. “Even around campus, everyone’s really excited about it. I’ve gotten a lot of questions and emails and text messages saying, ‘Oh, how do I get in? What can I do?’ And I hear random people on campus talking about the concert. I think it’s definitely one of our most successful tours because there’s so much attention.”

Bovard was chosen as the location of the tour’s last concert because Iggy Azalea and Live Nation wanted a more intimate show.

Azalea was nominated for six American Music Awards and won “Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist” and “Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album” for her debut album, The New Classic.

The show will stream live at 8 p.m. on Yahoo! Screen, an entertainment app that allows users to stream Saturday Night Live skits, Live Nation concerts, Vevo music videos, NFL highlights and other Yahoo original content.
