USC Security Roundup


The following incidents were reported in the USC Dept. of Public Safety incident report summary between Thursday, March 10, and Monday, March 21. 

Crimes against a person

At 1:03 p.m. on March 11, a student at the Lorenzo Apartments reported having an argument with his roommate, in which he was punched and elbowed in the face.

At 3:45 p.m. on March 12, a staff member sustained injuries to his neck and shoulder after colliding with a non-USC female at the intersection of 37th Street and Hope Street. The staff member was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

At 9:27 p.m. on March 12, a student reported being sexually assaulted by another student at 2833 Menlo Avenue.

At 8:42 p.m. on March 17, a staff member at the USC University Hospital Norris Tower received injuries from a homeless female.

At 10:27 p.m. on March 20, a student at the Lorenzo Apartments reported that she feared for her safety after another student attempted to contact her several times, even when she asked him not to do so.

Crimes against property

At 1:19 a.m. on March 12, a student threw two incendiary devices into the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house from the roof of a neighboring fraternity. This caused a fire to break out in the parking lot, which DPS officers put out with fire extinguishers.

At 9:14 p.m. on March 14, a suspect was arrested at Hazard Park on the Health Sciences Campus for spray painting trees with graffiti.

At 2:58 p.m. on March 18, a non-USC male reported that three suspects, one of whom brandished what appeared to be a knife, approached him at Hazard Park on the Health Sciences Campus and demanded his property. The individual, who feared for his safety handed over his backpack, after which the suspects fled in an unknown direction.

At 7:42 p.m. on March 20, DPS received a report that 10 laptop computers had been stolen from the Allan Hancock Foundation building.

Miscellaneous incidents

At 9:41 p.m. on March 15, Judicial Affairs cited two students for forging backstage passes to a concert at the Sports Arena.

At 8:26 a.m. on March 16, a student was referred to Student Affairs for drawing a swastika on a poster hanging in a hallway at the Pardee Tower.

At 1:30 p.m. on March 17, a radiation alarm was triggered by dirty linen at the Keck Hospital.

At 6:05 p.m. on March 19, DPS officers responded to reports of a water leak at Zumberge Hall, where a suspect activated an emergency shower on the second floor and caused water to flood a hallway and several rooms. Officers turned off the shower and called FMS personnel to conduct repairs after cleaning up the water.

At 8:31 p.m. on March 20, a non-USC male was arrested for public intoxication at the Robert Zemeckis Center.
