Men’s water polo’s junior 2-meter Lachlan Edwards claimed his first MPSF Player of the Week award after a scoring barrage over the weekend for the No. 2-ranked Trojans.

Edwards recorded 11 goals in three matches over the weekend in wins over UC Santa Barbara, Whittier and LaVerne to lead USC in scoring. He had a hat trick against the Gauchos, and 4 goals each against the Poets and Leos, tying a career high in goals set last season. His 12 goals so far this year is second on the team to fellow junior driver Mateo Morelli’s 13.

The Australia native is no stranger to finding the back of the net. Edwards scored 31 goals as a true freshman in 2014, and last season was third in scoring on the team with 40 goals, putting up 11 multi-goal matches. He also earned All-American Second Team, All-MPSF Second Team and NCAA All-Tournament Second Team honors last year.

The No. 2-ranked men’s water polo team is off to another hot start as it seeks another NCAA championship appearance. The team has begun the season 5-0 and faces Stanford in Palo Alto on Saturday in a match televised on the Pac-12 Network.
