The following incidents were reported in the USC Department of Public Safety crime/incident summary between Wednesday, Aug. 26 and Thursday, Aug 27.

Crimes against a person

On Aug. 26 at 11:39 a.m a student reported that a suspect approached him on 39th Place and Vermont Avenue and simulated a weapon in his pants pocket demanding money. When the student refused, the suspect did not pursue him and fled to campus. DPS officers detained the suspect and he was arrested after being positively identified by the student during a field “show-up.”

Crimes against property

On Aug. 26 at 1:47 p.m. a staff member reported that her rear windshield was broken by pine cones that fell from a tree while the car was parked in Lot 5.

Miscellaneous incidents

On Aug. 26 at 2:24 p.m. DPS officers responded to a student who was suffering from a possible allergic reaction to something she ate. An LAFD RA unit was requested and Unit #25 responded to the John Stauffer Pharmaceutical Science Center. The RA Unit examined the student, then she was released to the officers and they transported her to HCC for medical treatment.

On Aug. 27 between 6:10 p.m and 6:20 p.m DPS officers and LAFD Unit #15 responded to a fire alarm activation from a pull station at Heritage Hall. No smoke or fire was found. LAFD reset the alarm.
