Malcolmson steps down

Ben Malcolmson, the former Daily Trojan staffer and creator of the popular USCRipsIt website, is the most recent member of the Trojan family lured north by Pete Carroll.

Malcolmson is leaving the Trojans and his website behind to take a similar position with the Seattle Seahawks.  Malcolmson will remain with the team through the end of this week and will continue providing a scaled back version of the blog during that time.

Malcolmson tried out for the team in 2006 as part of a story for the Daily Trojan.  He made the team, and played in the Notre Dame game that season.  Before the start of the next season, Malcolmson, with Carroll’s approval, started the blog and website.  The website gave inside information about the Trojans to all who wanted it.

It was named CNBC’s No. 1 all-access blog in sports in fall 2009 by blogger Darren Rovell. The USC Sports Information department is already hard at work trying to find a replacement, with numerous candidates being considered, according to Malcolmson.  The website and blog are expected to continue in some form in the future.
