Rosario update

Sources close to USC basketball told the Los Angeles Times Monday that no one on the Trojan staff has ever contacted Rutgers guard Mike Rosario.

Reports out of New Jersey said that Rutgers was on the verge of filing a tampering charge against the university over contacting Rosario about a possible transfer.

Rosario’s high school teammate and current USC guard Jio Fontan transferred to USC after starting his collegiate career with Fordham in New York.

Rutgers’ campus newspaper, the Daily Targum, is reporting that Rosario will not be returning to the Scarlet Knights, but it is unclear what the effect of the tampering allegations will have on Rosario’s transfer options. The newspaper is also reporting that North Carolina may be an option for the sophomore guard.

The Scarlet Knights are in a period of transition, as they are in talks with current coach Fred Hill, Jr. concerning  a buyout of his remaining contract.

In his two seasons with the Scarlet Knights, Rosario averaged 16.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
