Student receives Pearson Foundation scholarship

Greg Woodburn, creator of the organization Give Running, has received a scholarship from the Pearson Foundation.

The $10,000 Pearson Prize  for Higher Education goes to students who have had a positive impacted in their college community.

Give Running has donated 7,000 pairs of shoes since it began. Woodburn created the foundation after his experience with cross country and the benefits he got from running.

He personally collects, organizes and cleans shoes to give to Los Angeles community members in need.

The prize only goes to 40 recipients annually. The application involves an essay portion and a video essay, where potential candidates explain why they qualify.
