From fist pump to fox-trot

This may come as a shock to the millions of fans who wait with bated breath and a bottle of self-tanner in hand every Thursday night at 10 pm.  The so-called “gorilla juiceheads” of MTV’s smash hit “Jersey Shore” did not take home the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Show.

In fact, they weren’t even nominated.

While the rest of the cast may be drowning their sorrows in RonRon Juice, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is in, well, a much better situation.

During Monday night’s episode of “The Bachelor Pad,” ABC officially announced that The Situation will be starring in Season 11 of “Dancing with the Stars” alongside other quasi-celebrities such as Bristol Palin,  “Baywatch’s” David Hasselhoff, singer Michael Bolton, “Brady Bunch” actress Florence Henderson and retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner.

Other contestants include singer Brandy, comedienne Margaret Cho, “Dirty Dancing” star Jennifer Grey, Disney Channel’s Kyle Massey, NBA athlete-turned-actor Rick Fox and Audrina Patridge of “The Hills”.

The Situation can fist pump with the best of them, but can he dance? We’ll see if all those nights in the club paid off when the new season of “Dancing With the Stars” airs Sept. 20 on ABC.
