LACMA brings cinematic gem to the big screen

For those not aware, LACMA has been putting together a splendid series of classic film screenings hosted by the 20th Anniversary Tribute to The Film Foundation, and this Saturday they are showing an absolute gem: Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s The Red Shoes.

I know, I know, I already wrote about The Red Shoes in the past, but all that means is that now you have a chance to see it for yourself — and in glorious 35 mm.

Not to sound like an unpaid spokesman for LACMA, but The Red Shoes is a cinematic experience that can only be fully appreciated on the big screen, in full living color. I could write a book describing the film’s artistic brilliance, but now I’m online, which means I can insert links. So I’ll just get out of the way and let you see a clip of it for yourself.
