Bringing a “Kik” to mobile

Want to BBM but don’t actually have a BlackBerry? A new BlackBerry application brings BlackBerry Messenger features to any smartphone.

Kik Messenger is a free smartphone chat application that can be used on any BlackBerry, iPhone, iPod or Android. It allows users to have instant conversations with other Kik users — letting you know when your text message has been send, delivered, read or even when the other person is responding.

Although the Blackberry Messenger Application only offers free “instant message” texting to other Blackberry users, Kik Messenger doesn’t discriminate, making the essence of BBM available to more smartphone users.

Kik also offers Push messages, cross-border messaging, landscape typing, offline messages, and more, according to the Blackberry App World website.
