Spiderman Musical hits New York
Quite a number of films are musicals, or vice versa. But who could imagine a comic book hero strutting the stages of Broadway?
Tony winner Julie Taymor can.
Spiderman the musical is slated to open in January but New Yorkers got a sneak peek this yesterday – though they walked away less than enthusiastic.
Various technical problems occured during the show, which are rumored to have caused the opening to be pushed back from its original December date to a January. During the show, some of the wires used for special effects instead became a huge burden, entangling the actors involved.
The musical sounds a little ambitious and quite adventurous, with an approximate running time of nearly four hours, musical accompaniment from the genius of Bono and The Edge and most importantly a whopping $65 million budget – enough to put it in the top spot in the list of the most expensive Broadway productions.
The show’s already got quite a lot of attention but the only way to keep up the good energy is to tune up those spidey senses.
