Roberson decommits from Auburn; to sign with Florida or USC
Four-star cornerback Marcus Roberson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) will sign a letter of intent Wednesday to play college football at either Florida or USC, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Roberson recently committed to Auburn Monday, but withdrew his verbal commitment approximately 24 hours after, marking the second time the St. Thomas Aquinas High cornerback had rescinded a commitment.
Prior to committing to Auburn on Friday, Roberson had committed to Texas Tech on Jan. 18 just days after visiting USC.
“I’m trying to do what’s best for me,” Roberson told the Sun-Sentinel. “The decision with Auburn was between me and the coaches there.”
Due to the departure of senior Shareece Wright and the team’s overall lack of depth in the secondary, it’s feasible Roberson could potentially start as a true freshman for the Trojans alongside sophomore-to-be Nickell Robey, who did as much in 2010.
