Woody Allen chooses Rome for next film
Woody Allen is known for romanticizing beautiful cities from across the world and has officially chosen Rome for the setting of his next film.
The capital of Italy finds itself alongside a list of cities that have been immortalized in his films, including New York, London, Barcelona and France. Though the plot and casting have yet to be revealed, the film will begin production this summer.
“I love these sophisticated cities. It’s fantastic to have the possibility to work there, like when I shot Manhattan in New York, Match Point in London and Vicky Cristina Barcelona in Barcelona” Allen told La Republicca.
Woody Allen seems to have no plans to return to New York, his beloved home, and has instead decided to uncover the beauty in another European city.
“Each time, it’s like a declaration of love for certain places. I project onto the big screen my feelings for places which count a lot in my life. I hope to do the same thing with Rome” Allen said.
Woody Allen’s latest film, Midnight in Paris, was filmed entirely in France and is scheduled to open the Festival de Cannes on May 11.
