Woody Allen’s latest due for a May release

Woody Allen paints Paris as a romantic and beautiful city, full of love and charm, in the official trailer for Midnight in Paris.

The film follows a young couple to the City of Light and their belief “that a life different from theirs would be much better.” If you have ever wanted to live in Europe, where everything seems to be so much more charming, perhaps this is the film for you.

Thierry Frémaux, director of the Festival de Cannes, has called the film a “wonderful love letter to Paris.”

The trailer hints at familiar themes present in Woody Allen’s films, including characters interested in art, history and romance. The official poster of the film shows Owen Wilson walking the streets of Paris under Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night.

Midnight in Paris stars Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Adrien Brody, Marion Cotillard, Michael Sheen, Kathy Bates and Carla Bruni. The film is Woody Allen’s first to be shot entirely in Paris.

Sony Pictures Classics will release Midnight in Paris on May 20, but the world premiere of the film will be at the opening ceremony of the Festival de Cannes on May 11.
