New dean of Levanthal announced

USC recently named Professor William H. Holder as the next dean of the Leventhal School of Accounting. He will replace Randolph Beatty as dean of the school starting on July 1.

Holder is currently the Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting, and has taught at USC since 1979. He also serves as the director of the USC SEC and Financial Reporting Institute, which he has led since 1994.

“I view this position as one that involves being a steward of a great school,” said Holder to USC News. “My job is to preserve and to protect and to advance.”

Holder says that he plans to continue teaching and maintain his ties to research and service as dean.

Holder received his doctorate in business administration and masters in accounting from the University of Oklahoma, and his research has been published in numerous accounting journals.
