Practice Notes: Sept. 6
Trojans look to correct mistakes against Minnesota in this week’s inaugural Pac-12 game against Utah.
- Robert Woods was named Pac-12 player of the week on offense.
- USC fell out of the Associated Press Top 25 rankings after squeaking by Minnesota 19-17. The Trojans were previously ranked 25th.
- Lane Kiffin reinstated tailback Marc Tyler. The redshirt senior will play Saturday versus Utah, but the exact amount was not specified. He ran for 913 yards on 171 carries (5.3 avg.) with 9 TDs in 2010.
- Martin Coleman took snaps at left guard with the first team. It is unclear whether or not he will start Saturday.
- Graduate assistant Sammy Knight will coach the secondary along with Monte Kiffin for the remainder of the season after former coach Willie Mack Garza resigned 48 hours before the Minnesota game.
- Lane Kiffin complimented Utah on their front four. He said the Utes have the best defensive line he has seen since returning to USC.
- The Trojans have more confidence approaching the Utah match-up due to knowledge of Norm Chow and game film from week one to view.
