The following incidents were reported in the USC Dept. of Public Safety incident report summary on Monday, Oct. 3.
Crimes against property
At 2:43 P.M., a student at Sigma Phi Epsilon reported the theft of his cellular phone. He had left the phone on the back seat of a taxi and when he called the number the driver answered. The driver agreed to return the phone to the student and stated that he was on his way back to Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, but he failed to show and the student was unable to contact him again.
Miscellaneous incidents
At 10:51 p.m., DPS officers responded to a staff member who was struck by a three-wheeled patrol vehicle driven by another officer outside Heritage Hall. The staff member complained of an injury to his ankle and the officers transported him to the student health center for medical treatment.
At 9:59 P.M., a student drove a university vehicle into a pole at Parking Lot SSRI, causing minor damage to the passenger side door.
At 12:41 P.M., DPS officers responded to a student who collided with a vehicle that turned in front of her while she was riding her bike at Jefferson Boulevard and Hope Street. The student was not injured and the officers cleared the scene after assisting the involved parties with the exchange of information.
At 8:25 a.m., DPS officers responded to a report of possible liquid nitrogen leaking from a canister at John Stauffer Hall of Science. Safety Office personnel were requested and responded. An unattended canister with an open valve was found to the rear of the building and the safety personnel and a professor confirmed that it contained liquid nitrogen. The valve was turned off and the officers cleared the scene without further incident.
