Blast from the past: Arizona

USC heads into the bye week after a 48-41 victory over the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona came into the Coliseum with only one win on the season but faced three top-10 opponents three weeks in a row. The win gave the Trojans their second win in the South division.

Positives: Junior quarterback Matt Barkley broke the school passing record for a single game with 468 yards. He bested former Heisman winner Carson Palmer, who threw for 448 yards against Oregon in 2002.

Sophomore wide receiver Robert Woods was five yards short of breaking the all-time receiving yards in a single game. Woods tallied 255 yards and two touchdowns against the Wildcats.

Junior safety T.J. McDonald also notched his first interceptions of the year. Coming into the game, Nick Foles had not thrown an interception, but the USC defense forced two in the first quarter.

Negatives: The Trojan defense missed redshirt sophomore cornerback Torin Harris and freshman linebacker Lamar Dawson. Overall, the Trojans gave up 554 total yards and a school-record 37 first downs to the Wildcats. Arizona scored five touchdowns on five straight possessions at one point.
