A vehicle was leaving a parallel parking spot on Jefferson Boulevard, near the intersection with Figueroa Street, when it collided with another vehicle traveling westbound shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, according to the Dept. of Public Safety.
“A vehicle parked at the curb, pulled out from the curb without, basically, seeing the car traveling westbound, and when it pulled out into traffic it hit the vehicle going westbound,” said Lt. Jim Fairrington, a night watch commander for the USC Department of Public Safety. “The vehicle struck the vehicle pulling away, which caused the vehicle to roll over.”
A third vehicle, which was parked at the curb facing west on Jefferson Blvd. was also lightly damaged.
Both drivers, one of whom is a USC staff member, left the scene unharmed, DPS said.
Authorities are now working to determine exactly what caused the vehicle to flip over.
