Miscellaneous incidents

at 2:39 p.m. on Jan. 16, DPS officers responded to a student who reported that a pot of cooking oil caught fire on the stove in her apartment at Cardinal Gardens. The student had removed the pot from the stove and extinguished the fire before the officers arrived and they confirmed that it was out. There was no structural damage to the apartment, but the kitchen walls and ceiling were blackened by smoke.

at 4:07 p.m. on Jan. 15, DPS and LAPD officers responded to a report of a student setting a T-shirt on fire in front of Cardinal Gardens and detained him for investigation. The DPS officers extinguished the fire and a witness positively identified the student as the person who started it. AT 6:15 P.M. on Jan. 13, DPS officers responded to a report of a male and a female yelling at each other at the location and detained them for questioning. The male identified himself as a student and stated that he was in an argument with his girlfriend.
