The following incidents were reported in the USC Dept. of Public Safety incident report summary on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Crimes against a person

at 9:24 a.m., DPS officers responded to a report of two non-USC males involved in an altercation inside the Norris Medical Library and detained them for investigation. The officers determined that the dispute was only verbal and both subjects were released after being advised that any further disturbances would result in them being barred from the facility.

Crimes against property

at 9:02 a.m., two witnesses reported they observed a group of people detain a suspect who appeared to be fleeing from Jefferson Boulevard and Figueroa Street possibly with a stolen laptop computer. The laptop was recovered from the suspect and returned to an unidentified male who then left the area. The suspect also left the area and he and the male could not be located during a subsequent search of the area by DPS officers.

Miscellaneous incidents

at 11:49 a.m., DPS officers responded to a traffic collision on Olive Street and Washington Boulevard involving two vehicles, one of which was a University vehicle driven by a staff member. An LAFD RA unit was at the scene examining the driver of the second vehicle when the officers arrived, and the driver was subsequently released to seek medical treatment on his own. LAPD officers were also present to conduct a traffic investigation.
